School Worship

At SS Simon and Jude, we focus upon God’s Big Story. Through this story we refer to our 12 Christian Values, discussing how they are demonstrated within the story.  This ensures that the values are thoroughly embedded. Our collective worship includes an order of service, with hymns and prayer and the teachings of the bible. The school follows the liturgical calendar for key Christian celebrations and services are led by the Seven Saints Team or members of school staff. See below for the times and themes of our whole school worship.

Collective worship

At SS Simon and Jude, collective worship is an important experience for both children and staff. We gather as a school twice a week and once a week as a key stage. Worship is led by both the clergy and staff as well as members of the worship committee from classes across school, who participate in readings, role plays and prayers.

Special occasions and celebrations

Celebrations and festivals play a big part in our worship. During the year the worship committee will plan and lead Harvest, the Remembrance gathering, the school carol service and the Easter Experience.

Class worship

Children and staff participate in daily worship which means twice a week worship takes place in class. The first class worship will concentrate on a Bible story linked to the Christian value for the half term. Children will be encouraged to share their thoughts and questions and reflect on the teachings of the story. In the second session, the class will be introduced to the thought of the week which is chosen to link with the value for the term and will be given time to reflect and respond to its message on the reflection cards. These cards can then be collected by the Worship team, displayed on the prayer tree and shared during collective worship.
